Unmukt was meticulously planned and executed very well using technology. For instance in the panel discussion room everyone was given headset and wireless transmitter! Registration was simple and quick. Volunteers were helpful and courteous. Even stalls used technology to maximum benefit for demos.

The event was memorable in many ways: Lot to learn and see. Discover talents. Forge new friendships. Get recognized. Get customers. The progress we are making in Elder care services / products is amazing. I am certain that this exhibition is just the tip of the iceberg.

Grocery List Organiser to Digital Shower: High-tech aid for elderly

FPJ Bureau

— By  | Jun 17, 2018 05:30 am

grocery, grocery list organiser, digital shower, high tech gifts, basic need, tech news, technology, weekend, weekend reads

Something that is useful in everyday life, and high-tech gifts for seniors with different degrees of impairment in their time of need

Technology is something that might assist you no matter what age group you belong to. In fact, these days even technology has grown elderly friendly in order to support them. Selecting gifts for seniors never comes easy, but these items listed below will keep your worries at bay.

Electronic Grocery List Organiser

It's a tendency that most of us have, when we go to buy a packet of milk we come back with something else but the milk. In this electronic grocery list, one can add the items through a speaker as and when it comes to your mind. Later, print a paper list organised by department.

Talking Photo Album

It is something where you can put pictures and record a speech or music which makes it easier for senior people retain happy and good memories. You can even add speech, sounds or music to each page individually, so that it doesn't become confusing.

Anti-tremor Cutlery

Enjoying a good meal with friends or family is something everyone relishes, especially older generation. But for those who have motor problems such as trembling and rigidity, eating could be perceived as an embarrassing activity that they do not want to share. These anti tremor spoons, forks and knives do wonders. They can reduce the effect of trembling in a significant way.

Picture Landline Phone

Memory impairments are pretty common in older people, especially those with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. A picture landline is an ideal gift for your beloved to make things falls in place for them. Since most of them do recognize the faces of their near and dear ones, the pictures are placed on each button.

Key Finder

If they keep losing their personal belongings like, keys, wallet and phone, then the most appropriate gift is a key finder.

Simplified Radio

Listening to music on a radio is one of the favourite activities of many seniors. But when dementia stage is a little too advanced, even turning on the radio could be difficult, especially the modern, high-tech items. So, to see their eyes lit up, get them a simplified or retro style radio that has zero complications – few options or less buttons on them.

Automatic Pill Dispenser

During the old age one forgets or takes the wrong medication, the apt solution could be an automatic pill dispenser. It contains different slots of pills, allowing delivering pills several times a day for a lot of days. It can be setup once a month or two. So, it sends an alert when it's time to take the medications. The most luxurious models can even send a text to the caregiver if the pills are not given.

Digital Shower with Remote Control

It allows you to control the temperature, flow and custom presets. So, if someone is unable to realize if the water is becoming too hot or unable to select the right temperature, because she cannot adjust the water faucet, this digital control shower is the best way to get the hold of the situation and not let things go haywire.

About Samarth Community

Lack of adequate care for senior citizens is a real issue in India cuttings across economic and social strata. There is a very high need to systematically help the elderly enjoy a quality, independent life in Indian cities while continuing to live in their homes and surroundings that they cherish. India has more senior citizens than the population of Australia, and nearly 15,000 senior citizens are joining the population every day. Yet, there is very little organized effort and attention towards meeting their needs and expectations.
Samarth (meaning “capable” in Hindi) is a National initiative launched by a group of professionals with the singular mission of bringing peace of mind and happiness to senior citizens in India.

About Samarth Community

Samarth Community is India’s leading not-for-profit organisation of senior citizens, with over twenty thousand members across more than sixty cities. It helps them interact and engage with each other, receive information and expert advice on topics of health, wellness, home care, money-matters etc., find post-retirement jobs and voluntary opportunities, receive training and awareness on relevant areas like computers, internet and digital transactions, personal finance and health, and participate in events and engagement opportunities for elderly. Samarth also offers professionally managed services for elderly which bring family-quality care to them at home through a network of Samarth’s own care-managers and selected service partners.
Samarth was co-founded by Asheesh Gupta, a former Management consultant with McKinsey  & Company who served world’s leading organisations in nearly 20 countries, co-founded 9.9 Media, was Pro Vice Chancellor of OP Jindal University and is a graduate of IIT Kanpur & IIM Calcutta; Anuradha Das Mathur, an economist from University of Cambridge UK, former head of Businessworld magazine, co-founder of 9.9 Media, founding Dean of Vedica Scholars’ Program and a Yale world Fellow; Gaurav Agarwal, former banker at Citi and Stanchart for nearly 20 years and a graduate of MIT Manipal and FMS Delhi.
The Founders are joined by an illustrious Advisory Board which includes Mrs. Asha Das, Retd. Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development; Mr. Probir Sen, Vice Chairman, Helpage India and Ex-Chairman, Air India; Mr. Maxwell Parreira, Retd Jt. Commissioner of Police, Delhi; Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Former President and CFO, SRF Ltd.; Mr. Anupam Bhasin, Educationist and Consultant, Former Director, Hero Group; Mr. Vivek Atrey, Ex. General Manager, Indian Railways; Mr. Manu Raman, Former COO of Mu Sigma and Co-founder of Goodhands, an eldercare pioneer in Bangalore and Mr. Sriram Narasimhan, former senior executive at the TVS Group and Founding Trustee of the Samriddhi Foundation in Chennai

The team’s approach in serving elderly is captured in its mission “to act like the son/daughter you wish you had at home”.

Oximeter

An oxygen saturation meter, or pulse oximeter, is great way to keep a check on your blood oxygen level. Pulse oximeters are easy to use, non-invasive and portable.

Samarth team has researched various options and recommends the following for senior citizens as it measures pulse rate quickly and accurately and determines blood oxygen saturation levels.

Chittoor district collector and csr

Happy to note that Govt support to poor can be even up to 65K for motorised wheelchair. This is great. I know that in the case of cataract operation for poor people is still done free but using old method of making surgical incision involving bandage pain for a few days, not sophisticated implanted lens.
